Chad is a developing country in north central Africa with one of the lowest per capita incomes in the world. Chad faces challenges in the areas of political stability and economic development. Years of war, drought, and famine have severely damaged the country's institutions and its infrastructure. Facilities for tourism are limited. The capital is N'Djamena.
Weather
Climate: The north is dominated by the Sahara desert and is practically rainless with hot temperatures throughout the year. The south experiences a wet season between May-Sep.
Clothing: Lightweights with warmer clothing for evenings. Leather or canvas shoes, hat and raincoat. For safaris a stout pair of walking shoes is recommended together with clothing of natural shades (avoid white and bright colours.
