Myanmar Ministry of Tourism took initiative of the private hotels and tourism sector
The Myanmar Marketing Committee (MMC) is endorsed by the Ministry of Hotels & Tourism of the Union of Myanmar and an initiative of the private hotels and tourism sector with the objective of marketing and promoting Myanmar as a destination so as to develop Myanmar Tourism Industry.
MMC plays its role as the marketing arm of Myanmar Tourism Promotion Board by organizing participation in worldwide travel trade fairs, road shows; the annual fund raising ball, tournament, events and other relevant activities. MMC is also achieving impressive accomplishments on awareness of the destination and its promotion by improving its scope of business and marketing initiatives from time to time.
On Friday, the 14th of May 2010, the Annual General Meeting and Elections for the year 2010/2011 of the Myanmar Marketing Committee was held at Parkroyal Hotel Yangon. Members unanimously nominated Dr. Aung Myat Kyaw as Chairman; U Phyo Wai Yarzar as Vice Chairman; Daw Phyu Phyu Mar as Secretary; Daw Rita Myint as Treasurer; and the other Executive Committee Members: Daw Su Su Tin; Daw May Myat Mon Win; Daw Susie Moe Aung; U Kyaw Min Htin; Mr. Selvakumar; Mr. Craig Powell and Mr. Richard Mayhew.
"MMC looks forward to continue the close collaboration with regional NTOs and other associations like Union of Myanmar Travel Association and Myanmar Hotelier Association and wishes to thank all our members and private sectors for their support and commitments over the years." said Dr. Aung Myat Kyaw, the Chairman at its 8th Annual General Meeting.
The MMC currently has 83 Members comprising 5 airlines; 27 hotels in Yangon, Bagan, Mandalay, Inle, Ngwe Saung and Ngapali Beaches; 43 tour operators; and 8 tourism related services.
