The following details relate to holders of adult normal passports (requirements for children may be different), if any other type of passport or travel document is held, entry requirements should be checked with the relevant embassy or consulate.

Health risks
New Caledonia is a French overseas territory, consisting of the large island of New Caledonia and several smaller island groups, located in the South Pacific near Australia. New Caledonia's moderately-developed economy is based on mining. Tourist facilities are concentrated on the island of New Caledonia, but are also available in some of the smaller island groups.
CRIME INFORMATION: The crime rate in New Caledonia is low; however, petty crime such as pickpocketing and purse-snatching does occur.
Weather
Climate: Tropical oceanic climate. The warm season is from Sept-Mar with temperatures averaging between 25-27°C with short occasional rains. The cooler season is from Apr-Aug with temperatures averaging 20-23°C but water temperatures remaining warm throughout the year.
Clothing: Lightweights for Jun-Sep, tropicals for the remainder of the year. Light raincoat useful between Jan-Mar. For cooler evenings (Apr-Aug) a sweatshirt is recommended.
