As recently as 200 years ago, Glacier Bay was completely covered in ice. Due to changes in global climates and the recession of glaciers, there are now more than 200 smaller, individual glaciers in the area. Established as a national park in 1980, Glacier Bay is one of the most popular sea kayaking destinations on the planet. When exploring the East Arm, you’ll paddle 60 to 70 miles and get up close views of the famous Muir Inlet and the McBride and Riggs Glaciers. Paddlers hike and camp along the way and will see abundant bird and marine life, including humpback whales.

You’ll also paddle sea kayaks at Point Adolphus in the Inside Passage, a famous feeding ground attracting countless marine mammals (humpback whales, sea lions, and seals among others), then head to Glacier Bay National Park for an overnight kayaking expedition amidst a panorama of sprawling tidewater glaciers, icebergs, and stunning mountain peaks.
Options for every adventurer! Get up close and personal with the bears of Admiralty Island. Skim the water with the whales of Point Adolphus. Experience Alaska’s diverse wildlife and BIG ice from a kayak in the remote waters of Glacier Bay.
